Trauare Wrede [RKS004 Vier] (トラウアーレ・ヴレーデ, Torauaare Vureede; pronounced Trou-ar Fred-a), also commonly referred to as Trau (トラウ, Torau) by her friends, is the fourth member of RKS. She is the wielder of the Chaos Spear, Leviathan, and is Zorne Zeppelin's closest friend. Her personality, along with her unintentionally flirty mannerisms, have earned her the nickname of "the Siren".

Appearance[]

In Rosenkreuzstilette, Trauare wears a blue competition swimsuit with light blue linings and a small white coat. On her right hand is a blue glove that covers her wrist and middle finger with a green gem on the back. Trauare has short light blue hair with a seashell pinned on her hair and turquoise-blue eyes. Her main weapon of choice is the Chaos Spear, Leviathan.

In Rosenkreuzstilette Freudenstachel, Trauare now wears a dark blue Chinese dress over her swimsuit with a light blue rose cross in between the cleavage of her dress. She also has a blue glove on her right hand that covers her entire hand with a larger green gem on the back of it. She also wears blue socks and small brown shoes.

Trauare has given her friend, Zorne, a competition swimsuit with an simliar appearence, although Zorne's swimsuit is colored differently, black with red linings, as opposed to Trauare's blue with cyan linings.

Personality[]

"You're better off forgetting what you can't change. Sorry, but this is the end of the line for you!"
—Trauare Wrede, Rosenkreuzstilette

Trauare is a composed and pragmatic young woman who conceals her immature tendencies. She often carries an uninterested look on her face whenever she makes a point to whatever is being asked of her. She prefers to avoid wasting effort whenever possible and looks down on people who refuse to do the same as her. Trauare is sharp-tongued and quite vindictive and will stop at nothing to exact revenge once she has been aggravated. She also has a temper much worse than that of her friend, Zorne. Trauare loves to swim and often invites Zorne to swim at a ravine during their free time.

Abilities[]

Trauare has abilities somewhat similar to Freudia's; she can levitate a few inches of the ground and has the ability of self-duplication, but to a lesser extent than Freudia. Her signature ability, Klageharnisch, allows her cool the vapor in the air to produce water and turn it into whirlpools which she can propel them in multiple directions. Trauare can also spend more time underwater much longer than any ordinary human.

Rosenkreuzstilette[]

Pre-Zorne Events[]

The reason Trauare joined RKS's rebellion was only just to show everyone that she was the best, and she wanted to beat Spiritia Rosenberg in battle after she was branded as a traitor to the organization. She mocked Spiritia, insulting her for taking Trauare to be a pacifist and accusing her of wasting her efforts, and wanted to prove to her once and for all that humans and Magi would never understand one another and that it was their fate to fight, and that nothing good would come of her friendship with Lilli. However, she was unable to defeat Spiritia, yet was pleased to be beaten - she complimented Spiritia and admitted to herself that it had been a while since she had a workout as good as that one. She knew that the world was filled with despair yet also knew that it would be worth it to hang on just a little longer. She was willing to join Spiritia in her quest to find a better way to make RKS's dreams a reality, and wanted to have another match with her when the incident was over. Spiritia happily complied and would accept her challenge any time.

Post-Zorne Events[]

Trauare would react to Spiritia more seriously if Zorne was beaten before her. She knew that there was too much sorrow in this world and believed that Spiritia couldn't change that no matter how hard she tried, but Spiritia knew that at least trying was better than doing nothing. Trauare then asks Spiritia if she knew just what she was doing, recounting how Zorne couldn't believe that she was defeated by the likes of her. Despite this, Spiritia was not willing to give up; she knew that it wasn't too late, claiming that if one gave it their all, they can change the world. Trauare grew annoyed with Spiritia's attempts to persuade her and vowed to finish her off. Ultimately, she was defeated, yet she was pleased with her defeat, knowing that Spiritia really didn't know when to quit. Spiritia admitted that she would rather regret what she did than what she didn't do. Trau laughed, admitting that there was no way Zorne could've taken her on and vowed to believe in Spiritia too. Trauare willing joined Spiritia's quest, and vowed to have a rematch against her once everything was said and done.

At the end of Rosenkreuzstilette, Trau greeted Spiritia on her triumphant return from her final battle against Iris Zeppelin alongside the other RKS members on a floating island.

Rosenkreuzstilette ~Grollschwert~[]

Pre-Zorne Events[]

In Rosenkreuzstilette ~Grollschwert~, Trauare wanted to best Grolla Seyfarth in battle after RKS marked her as a traitor for attacking Iris. Trauare mocked Grolla for turning her back on them and siding with the "disgusting humans", and vowed to see whose weapon was greater - Trauare's Chaos Spear, Leviathan, or Grolla's Demon Sword, Grollschwert. Grolla defeated her, and Trauare complimented on her being a worthy opponent. She decided that she would believe Grolla's story and admitted that Zorne never liked Iris and wondered if Zorne was onto something.

Post-Zorne Events[]

Just like in Spiritia's story, the confrontation against Trauare will have different lines depending on whether or not Zorne has already been defeated. After Zorne's defeat and upon reaching Trauare, Trauare decided that, since Zorne was already bested by Grolla, Trauare would have to take it seriously. Not having figured Grolla to do something so pointless as betraying them and siding with the "disgusting humans", she vowed to see whose weapon was greater - Trau's Chaos Spear, Leviathan, or Grolla's Demon Sword, Grollschwert. Grolla defeated her, and Trau complimented on her being a worthy opponent. While she admitted that she was jealous that Zorne couldn't have beaten Grolla with "that kind of strength", she decided that she would believe Grolla's story for then. She also admitted that Zorne never liked Iris and wondered if she was onto something.

Boss strategy[]

Trauare starts by launching three Klageharnisch whirlpools at the player, which she does this twice. After her second Klageharnisch, she will lunge at the player with her spear, Leviathan, at the the player as her Klageharnisch approaches the player. Getting hit by Trauare herself is actually more lethal than her Klageharnisch whirlpools as a single hit by Trauare's spear (or getting hit by Trauare herself) can deal more than 1/3 of the player's HP worth of damage. When she reaches Desperation Mode, she will now send out six Klageharnisch whirlpools that cover more the area and when she lunges with Leviathan, she will create two clones will follow her as she lunges. To avoid this, the player would have to time their jumps so they can both avoid Trauare's whirlpools and her lunging attack, followed by sliding to avoid the first clone, then jumping over the second one.

Depending on the route the player took to reach Trauare, this battle can be easy or hard. With the upper route, the player has no fear of jumping into the spikes in the lower route, but will have a hard time dodging her attacks. With the lower route, dodging her attacks in the first phase of the battle is easy as long the player is careful not to jump too high or they will hit the spikes above them. Much like the original Mega Man character she was based on, her vulnerability is a shield-type attack, i.e. the Geisterwand.

Pre-Zorne events[]

"Some sacrifices have to be made to break the cycle of hate. If not, we will all drown in the endless depths of despair. Wouldn't you like to be able to start over from scratch?"
—Trauare Wrede, Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~

Trauare meets Freudia on her way to battle against the Orthodox Church. Freudia learns that Trauare is intending to drown the Pope in the High Chapel and bids her to stop, realizing that the Magi being held prisoner by the Church would die as well. Trauare becomes belligerent, stating that some sacrifices have to be made unless everyone wants to drown in a state of despair and finding no reason in listening to anyone other than Sichte. She attacks Freudia, but Freudia cools her down through combat.

Afterwards, Trauare considers Freudia to be a killjoy and asks her why she arrived. Strudel says that Freudia is going to fight the Holy Empire's witch hunts and rescue Spiritia. Trauare says that she owes her one herself and decides to withdraw. She tells Freudia that it won't be a problem as long as she succeeds in her mission. Freudia vows that she will return alongside Spiritia and lets her know that working together can help bring the witch hunts to an end without sacrifices or death. Trauare compliments that Freudia has changed for the better and is sounding much more like Spiritia than before and apologizes to Zorne.

Freudia learns Kopiekreisel from Trauare.

Post-Zorne events[]

If Zorne was defeated before her, Trauare would become enraged. When Freudia finds her, she reveals that, in the few months that passed since Count Zeppelin's death, Zorne became what Trauare describes as catatonic, like a zombie, and not even talking. Zorne attempted suicide multiple times, all of which were stopped by Trauare. Zorne was brought out of this miserable state by rage towards the Church and her drive to destroy them. Trauare accuses Freudia of throwing her friend back into the pit of depression. Freudia replies that she was glad to see her snap out of it but admits that no one wishes to relive the horrors of her past. Trauare says she supposed the battle will never end until there's nothing left to fight for, however saying that sometimes it's worth it to sin and saying that people keep attacking Zorne oblivious to what she's been through. Finally giving in to her own fury, Trauare attacks Freudia in a rage.

After Trauare is defeated, Zorne shows up and shouts for the fighting to stop. Trauare tells her that she will destroy anything that ever hurts Zorne. Zorne, to Trauare's surprise, tells her that she is fine and apologizes to her for all the trouble she caused. Trau smiles and admits that she was rather hotheaded to the point that it looked like she was going insane. She apologizes to Freudia about what happened to make her furious and thanks her for cooling her off, while Zorne tells her that both of them will be taking things from there while Freudia goes off to bring Spiritia back. Freudia gives them her own thanks as well and Strudel is overjoyed seeing how happy Freudia looks.

Both Zorne and Trauare are among the members of RKS who happily reunite with Freudia, Spiritia, and their fairy friends after Iris's defeat.

Rosenkreuzstilette ~Weißsilber~[]

Pre-Zorne events[]

Pamela Arwig travels to the Heiligtum des Wasserteufels, where she finds Trauare waiting for Zorne. Trauare admits to having mistook Pamela for Zorne due to her red hair. Pamela commands Trauare to draw Leviathan and face her in combat, but Trauare states she'd rather focus her attacks on the High Chapel, much to Pamela's shock and agitation, believing that it would finally bring the "stupid" war to an end. Pamela calls Trauare a witch and accuses her of going insane, demanding that she stop her insanity at once. Trauare replies, accusing Pamela of crying "witch" when she sees Magi in the name of the one she calls "God", and saying that the "fundamentalist pigs" as she calls them annoy her.

After the battle, Pamela declares that Schwarzkreuz, as the Hand of God as she calls them, protect the Holy Empire and the Church, no matter the cost. Trauare replies that she's seriously starting to make her mad and vows vengeance against her sooner or later.

After Pamela defeats Zorne later, Trauare comes to her aid, surprising Pamela. Trauare says to Zorne that she'll come to her if she ever finds herself in trouble. Zorne suggests that they team up to take her on, but Trauare replies that they should fall back due to her injuries, and Zorne agrees. Pamela sees how genuine their friendship is with one another much to her surprise, and admits that they'd have the upper hand in a battle of two against one even though Zorne is injured. She tells both of them that they won't be so lucky next time they meet, while Trauare replies that she'll be the one to repay her in kind if she hurts Zorne again.

Post-Zorne events[]

If Zorne was defeated before Trauare, Trauare will give Pamela her thanks for saving her the trouble of hunting her down when Pamela finds her. She asks her to be a good martyr and die for RKS's cause, while Pamela states she was about to say the same herself. She tells her that RKS has been charged with treason and orders her to surrender or prepare to die. Trauare says she couldn't care less and that Pamela's blood would stain the waters red for hurting Zorne.

After the fight, Zorne immediately arrives to check up on Trauare. Trauare asks if she's come to help, while Zorne tells her not to get the wrong idea and that they need to escape and regroup, with Trauare replying that she understands. Pamela sees to her surprise that their friendship is genuine and that they'd have an advantage against her in a fight of two-on-one despite Trauare's injuries. She says that they both won't be so lucky when she encounters them again, while Trauare replies that she'll repay her in kind if she dares to hurt Zorne again.

After Pamela defeats Sichte, both Trauare and Zorne will come to her aid, much to Pamela's surprise. Zorne suggests that they both take Pamela on together, but Trauare is against the idea and says they should fall back instead, reasoning that they can't fight Pamela and protect Sichte at the same time. Zorne agrees with Trauare's idea, and they both escort Sichte to safety.

Boss strategy[]

Trau has a simple pattern; she will call three small Klageharnisch tornadoes that come upward and then hurl them at the player before calling three more Klageharnisch tornadoes and have them home in on her. She will then use her fully-charged Klageharnisch attack and call forth a giant water pillar that will create a wind that drags the player towards it, and after that, she will do a small hop and lunge at the player with her Leviathan, after which she will repeat the same pattern. Once in Desperation Mode, she will raise the water to fill almost the whole screen. From here, if Zorne has not yet been defeated, Trauare will call her in for a Unity attack consisting of five heart-shaped bombs that appear at Freudia's position. Once that attack is finished, or if Zorne has already been defeated, Trau will swim up and fire a slash effect at the player before swimming to the other side to fire another slash effect, and then swim back to the other side and fire one more slash effect. She'll then summon a water pillar and call forth four Cheep-Cheeps that will home in on the player while the water pillar drags the player towards it. Trau will then swim upward and create a current that forces several Needles and ice blocks towards the player. Luckily, the ice blocks cannot crush the player even if they manage to push her between themselves and the wall. After the current is finished, Trau will lunge forward with her Leviathan and repeat the same process. Also, assuming that Zorne hasn't been defeated yet, Trau can call Zorne and they can perform their unity attack where Zorne will place several heart-shaped Zornesbombes at the positions of wherever the player goes, detonating them a few seconds afterwards one at a time.

Trau's weakness is Eislanze, which is learned from Luste Teuber.

Trivia[]

  • Trauare's name is derived from the word "Trauer," meaning "sorrow" or "sadness" in German. Her family name, "Wrede," comes from Klaus-Jürgen Wrede, the German game designer responsible for the well-known Carcassonne series of games.
    • According to WOMI, the similar bikinis that are being worn by Luste and Tia in an artwork featuring the two of them were actually gifts from Trauare, which happens to be a nod to the fact that Wrede is a fan of Uwe Rosenberg and Klaus Teuber. Luste never realized that she sent them lingerie instead of complete outfits, and the reason why Trau never bothered correcting Luste was because she thought the result would be hilarious, suggesting that "a world filled with sorrow" could use a laugh or two "at the expense of an airhead".
  • Trauare Wrede is a large reference to Fairy Leviathan from Capcom's Mega Man Zero series. Her hair-style resembles Leviathan's helmet and they both use pole-arms as their weapon of choice. Trauare's spear also happens to be named after Fairy Leviathan.
    • Though Trauare's appearance resembles Fairy Leviathan from the Mega Man Zero series, she mainly uses an attack pattern similar to Air Man from Mega Man 2 in Rosenkreuzstilette.
  • Trauare's dress in Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~ bears a slight resemblance to Fairy Leviathan's jacket.
  • In Rosenkreuzstilette, Trauare will often remove her coat that she often wears around her one-piece swimsuit before battle.
  • Trauare's stage in Rosenkreuzstilette is one of two stages in the game to split into two different paths, the second being Zeppelin Stage 4 where the player meets Michael Zeppelin.
  • In Rosenkreuzstilette, one of her pre-battle quotes is a reference to one of Jet Stingray's pre-battle quotes, "Maybe the jellyfish can put up a better fight?", in Mega Man X4. Both quotes reference how dangerous jellyfish are due to the poisonous barbs that cover their bodies, and the fact that even dead jellyfish can still kill those who touch their barbs, which implies that even the dead stand a better chance against them than the player character.
  • In one of the screenshots from the Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~ April Fool's site, Zorne and Trauare are shown teaming up against Freudia Neuwahl.
  • In Trauare's profile on Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~, as well as one of the preview images of Fukurou no Youni - Himawari, her first name is misspelled as Trauere. The spelling error on Trauare's profile in Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~ was later fixed when [erka:es] redesigned the official site.
  • During the first phase of her fight in Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~ in addition to straight projectiles she'll also throw three upward that home in on the player before dashing across the screen, a very similar pattern was used by Top Man in Mega Man 3.
  • Her Rosenkreuzstilette ~Freudenstachel~ attack where she sends several Needles and ice blocks flying towards the player is quite similar to an attack used by Tidal Whale in Mega Man X5.
  • Trauare could easily be considered to be one of the few characters to use the most profanity in the Rosenkreuzstilette series alongside Zorne, Grolla (in ~Grollschwert~), and Eifer Skute. This usually occurs whenever she is enraged, as shown when Freudia confronts her should she have defeated Zorne before her, and when Pamela defeats her before selecting Zorne as her target, and Trauare would also call Pamela a "bitch" when she warns her that she'd return the favor if she hurt Zorne again after both of them have been defeated.
